All the updates in one post!

Somehow the winter always runs away from me and then I find it’s almost spring and I have yet to update our website! Well, it will still be another 3 weeks until we’re working in the gardens again, so hang tight while I churn out some exciting content for you!

The first announcement I want to share is that I passed an exam given by the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA), making me an official Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist! If you follow our Instagram page, you might have seen that update already with my very happy smiling face :)

I want to thank one of our Assistant Gardeners, Carrie Finkelstein, for helping me study for this exam: for the past 2 months, she has been teaching our team weekly horticulture lessons via Zoom. It’s been great for all of us— me, Abby and Gail— to keep learning together and to be in touch through the dreary winter days.

I’m sad to say that Carrie is leaving our team this year, but I’m excited for her future work. She’ll be moving on to work as a Garden Educator at the Massachusetts Horticulture Society Gardens at Elm Bank in Wellesley this summer! It’s a beautiful garden that you all should check out!

I also want to share an article that Carrie had published through Royal Society Publishing, based on her last year of undergraduate research at University of Vermont in 2020- 2021. You can read an article summary here: Science.org article summary And here is the article in full: research on sodium-enriched floral nectars

Last, but definitely not least, I’d like to show you the beautiful landscape designs that our former Assistant Gardener (now part-time Landscape Designer), James Brice, created for a client this past fall. I’m so impressed and proud to have his help on our team! You can admire his creative work below.

Don’t these beautiful designs just get you excited for spring!? We can’t wait!
